Bengaluru-based ALPHA-ELSEC, which is the joint venture company between Alpha Design Technologies Pvt Ltd (ADTL) from India with Israeli company Elbit has bagged an order for the supply of 100+ units of the SkyStriker Loitering Munition. The contract is under an emergency order.
The Indian Army had issued a Request for Information (RFI) on March 6, 2020, for procuring 100 x loitering munition systems, which will be deployed with the infantry using man-portable platforms. RFI required quantity to be delivered within 18 months of the contract.
ALPHA-ELSEC plans to use its infrastructure already established for various other Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Programs. Elbit Systems will also provide Transfer of Technology through a follow-on agreement.
The Indian air force purchased Israel Aerospace Industries’ Harop loitering munition system way back in 2010. Indian startup is working on its smart loitering munition and the program is already backed by the Indian Army and Indian air force.
SkyStriker is a fully autonomous UAS that can locate, acquire and strike operator-designated targets with a 5kg warhead installed inside the fuselage, enabling high-precision performance. The UAS’ electric propulsion offers a minimal acoustic signature, allowing covert operations at low altitude operations. As a silent, invisible, and surprise attacker, SkyStriker delivers the utmost in precision and reliability, providing a critical advantage in the modern battlefield.
