“Cold” cyber warfare | The United States accuses Russia of attacking a Ministry responsible for its nuclear arsenal
The US Department of Energy is the latest agency to confirm a security breach in one of the worst attacks on the US government. The ministry is responsible for managing the United States nuclear arsenal, but it has stated that the safety of the arsenal has not been violated.
Microsoft, the technology colossus, has also stated that it has detected malware on its systems. There are suspicions that the Russian government is behind this act of cyber warfare, which has denied playing any role in it.
The US Treasury Department is one of the targets of this sophisticated attack, which was announced by officials on Sunday, December 13th.
The attackers were said to have at least monitored data within federal networks, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Homeland Security, Finance and Commerce.

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) says perpetrators managed to breach computer networks using Orion network management software developed by SolarWinds at Texas of the United States.
The media attributed the attack to the Russian malicious group Cozy Bear or APT29, which is linked to the country’s intelligence services. The same group appears to have hit the State Department and White House e-mail servers under President Barack Obama.
In a statement on social media on Monday, the Russian embassy in the United States said it does not conduct any cyber-attacks.
Russia is most likely behind the extensive cyber attack on the United States, as well as on targets in other countries, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Friday.
“It was a very important operation and I think we can now say very clearly that the Russians are involved,” he said during the show of political commentator Mark Levin entitled “The Mark Levin Show”.
