In the afternoon of November 13, a powerful missile hit the western outskirts of the Syrian province of Idlib where the Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist organization Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) operates.
Local sources off the coast of Syria have confirmed that the missile was fired from the Russian Hmeimim air base south of Latakia.
This was probably an Iskander type missile, which is known to be based in Hmeimim. According to Southfront, from this base, different types of guided ballistic missiles can be launched.

Earlier, on October 23, two Iskander type missiles were fired from the Hmeimim base at fuel depots operated by illegal traffickers in the Turkish-occupied part of northern Aleppo. The missiles caused heavy losses of people and elements.

Yesterday after the missile attack, Russian warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes in the same area in western Idlib.
There is still no information on the nature of the targets or the losses caused by the Russian raids. The coming hours may reveal new details.
HTS, which is an ally of a number of other al-Qaeda-affiliated groups and Turkish factions, maintains a strong influence in the wider province of Idlib.
Despite the ceasefire signed on March 5, 2020 to end hostilities between the Syrian Arab Army and openly Turkish-backed paramilitary groups, the situation in northwestern Syria remains tense.
