France | “Gray Wolves” disbanded by a decision of the Cabinet
The extreme nationalist organization “Gray Wolves” was disbanded today in France by a decision of the Cabinet, the French Minister of Interior, Gerald Darmanen, announced on Twitter.
Le mouvement des « Loups gris » a été dissous en conseil des ministres, conformément aux instructions du Président de la République.
Comme le détaille le décret que j’ai présenté, il incite à la discrimination et à la haine et est impliqué dans des actions violentes. A lire👇 pic.twitter.com/b3qL7REDPo— Gérald DARMANIN (@GDarmanin) November 4, 2020
“The Gray Wolves movement was disbanded during the Cabinet meeting, according to the orders of the President of the Republic,” announced Gerald Darmanen, adding that the organization “incited the hatred and had been involved in violent acts.” Two days earlier, Minister Darmanen had announced the country’s intention to outlaw the Turkish far-right organization.
On Sunday, a monument to the Armenian Genocide was desecrated with the inscription “Gray Wolves” in the Lyon area, and new anti-Armenian inscriptions were found Monday in Mezie and on the walls of the Armenian consulate in Lyon.
On the monument and the building, which are only a few meters apart, strangers wrote the initials “RTE”, in the name of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, “Gray Wolves” and insulting phrases.
