On November 19, the World UAV Federation made, at its request, a high-profile visit to SAS Technology, the Greek company specializing in the manufacture of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
In particular, SAS Technology was visited by Prof. Mr. Jincai Yang, President of the World UAV Federation (WUAVF) and the Shenzhen UAV Industry Association. Mr. Yang was accompanied by Mr. Euan Yao, Director of Shenzhen Security and Protection Industry Association and Deputy Secretary General of Shenzhen UAV Industry Association.
The President of the Greek branch of WUAVF, Mr. Ioannis Daglis, also attended the visit, alongside His Excellency the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Greece, Mr. Xiao Junzheng, who was accompanied by special embassy attachés.
With his presence, mr. Ambassador confirmed the importance of this visit, underlining the significance of promoting international collaborations in advanced technology and, specifically, in the rapidly growing international UAV industry.
Representing the President of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Konstantinos Diamantakos, Head of the General Aviation and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Department, also attended the event.
The World UAV Federation (WUAVF) was established in June 2017 by Mr. Jincai Yang (President) and was first presented in October of the same year in Shenzhen, China.
The purpose of the federation is to unite and advance the interests of the global UAV community. It also seeks cooperation between manufacturers, businesses, and governments, promotes innovation in the field of UAVs, encourages safe use, provides education and awareness, and generally represents the interests of the international UAV community internationally.
SAS Technology, according to a relevant announcement, has an important position in the field of UAV development in Greece, having shown in recent years important innovations in both civil and defence systems.
In respect of civil systems, the company presented two years ago the first Greek, multicopter-type heavy unmanned aerial vehicle, capable of carrying cargo that can reach or exceed 30 kg. In addition, the company is also active in the field of defence systems, since it is the first to design, manufacture and successfully test armed UAVs, with the SARISA and AIHMI systems armed with 2.75 rockets 70 mm being the pinnacle.

The company also cooperates with large multinational companies, such as THALES.
During the visit, the Chinese ambassador and the members of the World UAV Federation had the opportunity to tour the SAS Technology exhibition and facilities. They also attended a presentation by the company’s Vice President and General Manager, Fotis Kampiotis, in which the company’s achievements and goals in research, development, and manufacturing of high-quality systems were analyzed.
Upon completion of the presentation, the President of the international federation stated that he was impressed by the company’s achievements and emphasized his intention to contribute to the more effective cooperation of the company with manufacturers in China and internationally, who are members of the federation, the announcement points out.
The visit was followed by an exchange of mementos and a formal meal under the Athenian sun and the view of the Acropolis at the Dionysos Zonar’s restaurant, where the foreign Delegation, the Ambassador, and the other guests enjoyed Greek hospitality.
