Turkey has issued a new NAVTEX from Smirni station, according to which the demilitarized regime of Chios has been violated as provided by the Lausanne Treaty, Turkish media report.
“The demilitarized regime of Chios as defined by the Lausanne Treaty of 1923 has been violated,” said the anti-NAVTEX issued by Turkey last night.

Turkish media claim that Greece has been militarizing the islands since 1960 which, according to the Lausanne Treaty, should have a demilitarized status, adding that Turkey is constantly calling on Athens to demilitarize the islands.
