The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has announced the approval of the operational use of Poseidon unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are now domestically produced.
The Poseidon UAV, a product of the Cypriot company Swarmly, has been utilised on the Ukrainian frontline since 2022.
With the recent decision by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the integration of domestically produced Poseidon UAVs into the country’s military units and their deployment on the battlefield have been approved.
It is noted that, under an agreement, various components necessary for the assembly of the Poseidon UAVs will be supplied by the Cypriot company Swarmly through its partners, enabling this way the production of the UAVs in Ukraine.
The Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine made the following statement regarding the Poseidon UAV:”This system is designed to perform a variety of specialised missions.” “They are equipped with electric motors and advanced navigation technology. It operates efficiently in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +45°C, even during strong winds. The battery charge lasts for several hours of continuous operation. The operational altitude of these drones exceeds the range of many enemy air defence systems”.
Technical characteristics of the Poseidon H10 UAV:
- Maximum take-off weight: 25 kg
- Payload: 3 kg
- Operating ceiling: 5 km
- Autonomy: 2.5 hours
- Maximum cruising speed: 75 km/h
- Operational range: 180 km
- Operating range without satellite communication: 70 km
The H10 UAV can be transported by an SUV or truck and features a command station with a deployment time of less than 10 minutes. It is powered by an electric motor and has four propellers, enabling vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). Its VTOL capability allows for emergency take-offs and landings and is designed for operations in environments lacking conventional navigation systems (GNSS—Global Navigation Satellite System).
At the international defence and security exhibition, Eurosatory 2024, in Paris, Swarmly showcased the H10 Poseidon equipped with the RF Hunter electronic warfare system developed by the Cypriot company SignalGeneriX.
