The exercise “Stavraetos 2021”, organised by the Pancyprian Association of Reserve Special Forces, has been successfully completed. The exercise was attended by reserve patrols who are voluntarily trained and constantly in readiness.
The items the exercise focused on were very demanding at the operational level and the results of the combat patrols that participated proved that the voluntary sacrifice of time, money and effort by the reserves can pay off. The results of the reserves in similar exercises also prove that the state must strengthen these initiatives so that the participants can perform their tasks to the maximum. At the same time, the Pancyprian Association of Reserve Special Forces announced the organisation of Exercise “ONISILOS 2022”, with international participation from European countries.
Specifically, according to an announcement by the Association, exercise “Stavraetos 2021”, organised and conducted by the Pancyprian Association of Reserve Special Forces, was completed with absolute success. This year is an opportunity for a special celebration, as two hundred years have passed since the great Greek Revolution. Likewise the exercise is reverently dedicated to the immortal fallen of the Nation.
The 24-hour exercise took place in the wider area of Lythrodontas – Machairas between November 13-14, 2021 with the participation of several eight-member patrols. The objectives of the exercise were to forge the bond among the members of the Pancyprian Association of Reserve Special Forces, to create a military spirit in the reserve ranks and, lastly, to broaden the knowledge and skills of that vital force which currently constitutes the force multiplier of the authority responsible for the defence of our homeland.
The Board expresses its sincere thanks to the Ministry of Defence and its personnel, the General Staff of the National Guard and all those who contributed to the success of this exercise. Next year, the Pancyprian Association of Reserve Special Forces plans to conduct the “Onisilos 2022” competition, in which representative teams from several countries of continental Europe will participate.
