The Spanish police have been put on alert after a total of six letter-bombs, even addressed to the country’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez.

The authorities managed to locate letter-bombs meant to be received by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence Margarita Robles, the Ukrainian ambassador in Madrid, the director of a military equipment company, the Head of the military base in Torrejon, and the US embassy in Madrid.

The last letter bomb was detonated in a controlled explosion by the bomb squad. It is recalled that on Wednesday, another letter-bomb exploded in the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid, injuring an embassy employee.

The Minister for Security, Rafael Perez, pointed out in a press conference that, in all cases, there is an indication that they were sent from within national territory, that is, the sender was in Spain.

The first package was received by ordinary mail on November 24 at the offices of the Presidency and was addressed to Pedro Sanchez. When it went through the X-ray, the security officials of the complex detected explosives capable of igniting, that is, producing a flame, not exploding.

Authorities say all the letters appear to have been made by an amateur.
