The private military mercenary company Redut will replace Wagner in the war with Ukraine after Wagner severed relations with Russia and following the death of its leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Private military company Redut is recruiting mercenaries, including former associates of the private mercenary organization Wagner, British military intelligence reports, cited by the BBC’s Russian service.
According to their information, the control and financing of the activity of the organization in question has been undertaken by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the Redut organization has participated in hostilities in the regions of Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Lugansk. The company employs more than 7,000 people.
The Redut organization is currently one of several private military companies and volunteering groups used by the Ministry of Defence to meet the needs of the Russian tactical forces.
The British military intelligence report states that it is probable that the practice of creating “volunteering” units helped Russia avoid new ‘waves’ of conscription, which is unpopular in the world.
