The Isaac Solomou Memorial Initiative issued an announcement on the motorcyclists’ established procession, in honour of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou, but also the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.
The announcement in detail:
From July 1-11, a group of Cypriot motorcyclists will be in Greece to walk on historical paths, guided by the struggle of memory against oblivion, carrying the insistence for justice of the sacrifices of Tassos and Solomos.
From Thessaloniki and Macedonia, they will reach Kastanies of Evros, in Alexandroupolis, in the village of Afxentio, carrying the baton of Afxentiou. From there, they will become one with history, in Fort Rupel, in Georgios Katsanis’ Sidirokastro, in Christodoulos Sozos’ Ioannina, the heroic exit in Messologgi, in the anti-fascist Kalavrita, in Kolokotronis’ Palamidi, in Nafplio, the first capital, in Leonidas’ Sparta, in the Byzantine Mystras, in Piraeus, in the invincible Crete, in Athens. During the homonymous procession, all this will once again be remembered by Greeks all over the world, in order to emphasize the importance of the Greece-Cyprus joint struggle. For Tassos, Solomos, history, freedom and justice.
The “Isaac – Solomos Memorial Initiative”, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821 and insisting on the struggle for memory and justice, 25 years after the assassinations of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou by police officers of the occupying regime in Deryneia, organises the procession of memory, freedom and historical consciousness on metropolitan Greece and Cyprus soil.
