Isaac – Solomou Memorial Initiative “From Grigoris, to Tassos and Solomos”
Faithful to their appointment, the motorcyclists of the “Isaac – Solomou Memorial Initiative” started yesterday, Friday, August 7, for their established roadtrip.
A roadtrip that even the coronavirus pandemic cannot interrupt, since with heavy debt and the “history of the centuries in their sacks” the members of the “Isaac – Solomou Memorial Initiative” aim to preserve the memory of the sacrifice of Isaac – Solomou and the emergence of messages emanating through their sacrifice to society.
Setting off from Nicosia, with the slogan “from Grigoris, to Tassos and Solomos”, around 80 motorcyclists laid a wreath at the statue of the National Martyr Kyprianos in Kambia and then went to Macheras. After hearing the shocking story of the Monastery from Father Alexios, the motorcyclists attended a trisagion at the hideout of Grigoris Afxentiou and from there took soil to deposit in the place of sacrifice of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou.
Today, Saturday, August 8, they passed through the occupied roadblocks of Astromeriti, Agios Dometios, Ledra Pallas and Ledra, worshiping at the sacred Tomb of Makedonitissa.
Today, the motorcyclists will spend the night in Deryneia and tomorrow, Sunday, August 9, they will attend the memorial service at the church of Agios Dimitrios in Paralimni.
The pandemic forces the roadtrip to change, but the memory, as they state, is not canceled out. Motorcyclists show in practice that they do not forget. They state that they insist on preserving the memory, to resist oblivion, almost 24 years after the cowardly murders in Deryneia.
