The Netherlands will host a new €1 billion NATO fund that will invest in European start-ups developing technology with potential military or defence applications.
The fund, which was announced last year, will be formally established during NATO’s annual summit in July, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs said in a statement.
The Ministry expects that hosting this fund in the Netherlands will make it easier for innovative Dutch start-up companies to gain access to capital, promoting solutions to both military and societal problems.
The multinational fund aims to bring together governments, and the private and academic sectors so as to strengthen NATO’s technological edge, the alliance announced last year.
