National Guard | Armed Forces Day is celebrated on September 8

September 8, the feast day of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, has been established by the Republic of Cyprus as Armed Forces Day.

NGGS reports about today’s celebration: “Happy birthday to the entire National Guard family. To our female and male Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, Soldiers, Sailors, and Crewmen, Civilian Personnel, Reservists, and National Guardsmen. The Most Holy Theotokos, our Protector and Guide.”

The Chief of the NGGS, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, in a post states: “On the occasion of the celebration of the birthday of the Most Holy Theotokos, Patroness of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Cyprus, I wish happy birthday to the men and women of the National Guard.

– WE ARE VIGILANT to ensure the territorial integrity of our country committed to our Mission.

-The National Guard is EVERYWHERE needed to assist the state apparatus.

– We are PROUD of the trust of the Cypriot society.”
