Moldovan President, Maia Sandu, appealed for military support from the West yesterday in the wake of revelations about a plan to destabilize the former Soviet Republic allegedly drawn up by Russia.
Moldova has repeatedly suffered hybrid attacks from Russia and has faced efforts aimed at destabilizing the country, President Sandu told reporters in Bucharest.
The President underlined that Moldova aspires to acquire weapon systems from the West, seeking its military support.
Moldova must improve its capabilities in the field of defence and is currently holding talks with its partners on this issue, Sandou said.
The President of Moldova traveled to Bucharest for consultations with Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis, and German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, who assured her – among others – that the West would financially support Chisinau.
