Today, Friday, March 10, 2023, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC), the Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) Reserve Association, and the Ayia Napa Marina. The said Memorandum defines the method and procedures for the involvement of the UDT Reserve Association during Search and Rescue operations (SAR) as well as procedures for the docking and maintenance of the Association’s vessels as well as the storage of their armament at the Ayia Napa Marina.

The signing of the Memorandum highlights the importance of the cooperation of the government sector with the private sector and volunteers, which is necessary especially in times of crisis due to natural or man-made disasters.

In its announcement, JCRR expresses its warm thanks to the UDT Reserve  Association and the Ayia Napa Marina for their response and contribution to further strengthening the capabilities of the Republic’s SAR system, especially in the event of a sea accident close to the shore.

Efforts will be made to develop more partnerships throughout unoccupied Cyprus in order to further minimize response time and maximize efficiency.
