Libya | President suspends Foreign Minister Najila Mangoush
Defence Redefined
07/11/2021

The Libyan Presidency has suspended the Foreign Minister, Najila Mangoush. The decision takes place in the midst of important developments for the country, followed by the conference in Paris and the December elections.

Najila Mangoush is a lawyer and activist and comes from the ranks of General Haftar. She is accused of making decisions on foreign policy issues without consulting the Presidential Council, while she has also been barred from travelling. She has disagreed with Turkey particularly over the withdrawal of foreign troops and mercenaries and has been threatened in the past.

We expect to see the reaction of the international community and the impact of the decision on the country’s election process.
