Israeli warplanes and tanks struck a Hamas facility in Gaza today and Palestinian militants fired six rockets towards southern Israel, the Israeli military said, as mediators worked for calm along the border.
So far there has been no information on casualties on either side.
The Israeli military says it struck a Hamas underground infrastructure and a military post in Gaza overnight. They claimed this was in response to the incendiary balloons launched from the Palestinian enclave towards Israel and have caused fires in Israeli crops.

Palestinian militants in Gaza then fired six rockets towards Israel, according to the Israeli military, sparking a second round of Israeli strikes against a Hamas training camp. An Israeli military spokesman said he had no information about the whereabouts of the rockets fired from Gaza, but that none of them were intercepted by the Israeli Iron Dome defence system. Hamas is trying to put pressure on Israel to ease its blockade on Gaza. As part of this effort, it allows Palestinians to drop dozens of helium balloons with incendiary devices towards southern Israel.
