Israel has offered a new comprehensive ceasefire deal to Hamas, US President Joe Biden has revealed.

The deal will include the release of Israeli hostages from Gaza and the rebuilding of civilian areas. Mr. Biden urged leaders of both parties not to waste this opportunity.

The first phase of the proposed deal would be a six-week ceasefire, during which Israel and Hamas would negotiate the definitive end to the fighting in Gaza, Biden said.

If negotiations last more than six weeks, the ceasefire will continue for as long as it takes to reach an agreement, he added.

The second phase would involve Hamas handing over all remaining hostages and the withdrawal of all Israeli Armed Forces from Gaza.

The final phase will involve a major reconstruction plan for Gaza, according to the US President.

He also urged Israel’s leadership to support the proposal, arguing that Hamas is no longer in a position to carry out another attack on Israelis like the one on October 7.

Israel has warned that its war in Gaza will continue until Hamas is eliminated. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that Israel had authorized its negotiators to present a ceasefire proposal to Gaza, the details of which were presented by US President Joe Biden.
