Details of the operational plan have been revealed by the Israeli Minister of Defence, Joab Gallant, in the Knesset.

With the Israeli military on high alert for the possible immediate launch of a ground operation inside the Gaza Strip and with the shelling of the Palestinian enclave being intensified, Israeli Defence Minister, Yoav Gallad, presented the war plans and objectives of the Israeli military campaign in Gaza Strip, speaking to the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee.

According to the Minister, Israeli war goals include the destruction of Hamas, through the destruction of its military and governmental capabilities, Israel’s complete renunciation of any responsibility in Gaza, and the establishment of a new security regime in the Gaza Strip.

Gallant told the Commission members that the war would have three main phases.

The first phase is currently being conducted by means of a military campaign with airstrikes and will later continue with ground maneuvers aimed at destroying Hamas, the Defence Minister stressed.

The second phase, he underlined, would continue with fighting but at a lower intensity, as troops work to eliminate pockets of resistance.

The third phase will be the creation of a new security regime in the Gaza Strip, Israel’s abdication of all responsibility for life in the Gaza Strip, and the creation of a new security reality for the citizens of Israel and the residents of the surrounding area of Gaza, he stressed.

At least 4,137 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombing since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic movement’s Health Ministry said yesterday, the 14th day of the war.

In addition, 13,162 have been injured, according to the latest provisional tally given by the Hamas government that runs the Gaza Strip.
