Red Sea | A US Fighter Jet was Shot Down by Friendly Fire

A US fighter jet was shot down by friendly fire over the Red Sea on Sunday, as announced by the headquarters of the US armed forces in charge of the Middle East region (U.S. Central Command or CENTCOM).
The two pilots bailed out in time and were rescued, one with minor injuries, according to a statement issued by CENTCOM.
It is an F/A-18 Hornet that was salvaged from the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). One of its escort ships, the cruiser Gettysburg (CG 64), accidentally rammed the fighter jet, the statement said.
For a year now, the US military has been launching frequent attacks against Houthi terrorist positions in Yemen, which have repeatedly targeted merchant ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
Yesterday, Saturday, CENTCOM announced it had launched airstrikes against Houthi military installations in the Yemeni capital and shot down drones and an anti-ship missile over the Red Sea.
