The US military announced midday Friday that it had killed ISIS leader Abu Yusuf in an airstrike in Deir ez-Zor province.
The leader of the terrorist organization Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant was killed in battle, as announced by its spokesman.
According to the organization, Abu Al-Hassan Al-Hashimi Al-Quraishi was killed by fire from “enemies of Allah”. All that was known about the former leader of the Islamic State was that he was a 42-year-old Iraqi.
The jihadists have also announced a new leader, Abu Al Hussein Al Husseini Al Quraishi.
The deceased leader of the Islamic State was thought to have been arrested in Turkey last May and he himself said that he had become a leader against his will.
At the same time, many believe that ‘Abu Al Hassan’ was merely a fictional name that was made public.
