Indra and Rheinmetall Electronics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to propose an upgrade to the Combat System of the Spanish Leopard 2E main battle tank. 

The two companies previously collaborated to develop the Combat System—including the Fire Control System and C4I system—for all Spanish Leopard 2E tanks. With this new MoU, they reaffirm their successful partnership in the production and servicing of fire control and C4I systems.

Rheinmetall Electronics, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the Leopard 2 fire control systems, provides a flexible fleet management solution featuring a unified core system with customisable adaptations tailored to customer requirements.

Indra contributes its expertise in the production and maintenance of the Leopard 2 Combat System. The company also develops its own electro-optical solutions, battle management systems (BMS ET and Lince), and mission systems (Maestre), designed for platforms such as the Leopard 2E main battle tank, the Pizarro IFV infantry fighting vehicle, and the VCR 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicle.

Together, Indra and Rheinmetall offer state-of-the-art solutions fully compatible with other Leopard 2 variants. This compatibility enables Leopard 2 operators to maintain a common product base while benefiting from the integration of innovative individual upgrades throughout the system’s lifecycle.
