Book Presentation Event by Dinos Avgoustis in Larnaca

The Larnaca/Ammochostos District Committee of the Cyprus Centre for European and International Affairs (KY.KE.M.), in collaboration with the Municipality of Larnaca, cordially invites the public to the presentation of the new book by academic and author Dinos (Avgoustinos) Avgoustis, entitled “The Betrayed Generation of ’74 – Fifty Tumultuous Years – Cyprus Is Not Far Away.”

The event will take place on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, at 19:30, at the House of Letters and Arts – “Ammochostos” Municipal Cultural Center (18 Archbishop Kyprianou Street, Larnaca, opposite ACS Courier).

The event will commence with welcome remarks by:

  • Ms Ellada Ioannou, President of the Larnaca/Ammochostos District Committee, KY.KE.M.
  • Mr Andreas Vyras, Mayor of Larnaca
  • Representative of the Municipality of Larissa
  • Mr Lambros Kakoullis, President of the 33rd Commando Unit 1974, Bellapais
  • Mr Andreas Morphitis, Vice President of KY.KE.M.

The book will be presented by Lieutenant General (Retd.) Dimokritos Zervakis, former Chief of the National Guard, followed by a response from the author.

The evening will conclude with a musical performance by the Choir of the Livadia Municipal District, presented by Ms Evdokia Papachristoudi, Secretary of the Larnaca/Ammochostos District Committee, KY.KE.M.

The event is expected to last approximately one hour, and admission is free of charge.

Supported by local institutions and partners, the event offers a reflective tribute to the experiences, sacrifices, and legacy of the 1974 generation, view through the lens of memory, history, and moral responsibility.
