Hungary has announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase four Saab JAS Gripen fighter jets from Sweden.

Budapest is preparing to finally approve Stockholm’s NATO membership after nearly two years of delays.

Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, welcomed his Swedish counterpart, Ulf Kristerson, in Budapest and said that he had managed to rebuild trust.

Christerson said that he welcomes the deal and even though they don’t agree on everything, they both believe that they should work together where possible, he commented.

The Orban government, which maintains close economic ties to Russia, had long delayed ratifying Sweden’s NATO membership.
