On Saturday, April 09, 2022, and in the framework of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) of the European Union (EU), 8 members of the Special Warfare Command of HNDGS departed for Mozambique by a transport aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force, which participates in the homonymous European Union Training Mission Mozambique (EUTM – MOZ).

According to the announcement of HNDGS, the aircraft also carried Romanian personnel participating in the same mission, following a relevant request to facilitate their transfer to Mozambique.

The said participation of the Hellenic Armed Forces in EUTM – MOZ was approved by decision of the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence on March 31, 2022, for a period of 2 years (until the end of 2023) with the possibility of extension in case the duration of the mission is extended.

The participation of the above personnel in the EU Training Mission in Mozambique aims at the active participation of the Hellenic Armed Forces in the Missions of International Organizations as well as in the promotion of their capabilities in a European context, strengthening the role of Greece as a factor of security and stability.
