A post on social media about the KAMOV firefighting helicopters was made by the Cyprus Fire Service.

Specifically, the Service wrote: “Our wish is that we need them as little as possible! It depends on us! The KAMOV helicopters, managed by the Fire Service, are in operational readiness since yesterday.”

The KAMOV helicopters leased by the Republic of Cyprus to deal with forest fires and rural fires will be stationed at Paphos Airport.

Yesterday afternoon, the Committee, consisting of officers of the Department of Forests, the Cyprus Police Aviation Unit and the Fire Service, went to Paphos Airport and inspected the helicopters and their 24 staff members. Test water drops were carried out and then their delivery was decided. With the instructions of the Director of the Forest Department, the two helicopters were put into operational readiness as of this morning.
