Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has spoken of the possible launch of a ground operation in Syria, the day after a series of airstrikes against Kurdish positions in Syria and Iraq and rocket fire on Turkish soil by Syria.

As he stated on his return from Qatar, this operation can be limited to an air operation only. The Defence Ministry, he continued, and the general staff jointly decide how many ground forces should participate. Consultations take place, he added, and then appropriate measures are taken.
