Denmark has recently deployed two unmanned surface vessels (USVs), developed and operated by a U.S. company, to enhance surveillance efforts in the Baltic Sea and North Sea.

The Cypriot company CyRIC worthily represented the domestic defence industry in the field of Unmanned Aerial and Ground Vehicles at the EUROSATORY 2022 International Defence and Security Exhibition in Paris.
CyRIC is a technology company that designs and manufactures innovative high-tech solutions for applications in Defence, Infrastructure Control, Search and Rescue, Civil Defence, etc. It also offers services in applied research, design and product development in engineering, robotics, electronics and communications as well as specialised software solutions using artificial intelligence (AI).
CyRIC has unveiled the VECTOR H-18, a locally-made Unmanned Fixed-Wing, Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL ) aircraft, specially designed for rapid deployment.
The VECTOR H-18 is designed to operate in multiple missions and is ready to use in 10 minutes. The landing gear and the main wing are removable to make transportation easier.
VECTOR-H18 Technical Characteristics:
- Wingspan: 1.8 m
- Overall Length: 1.4 m
- Overall Height: 0.4 m
- Weight without battery: 3 kg
- Battery weight: 1.5 kg
- Max take-off gross weight (MTOGW): 5 kg
- Payload: 0.5 kg
- Horizontal Speed : 45-100 km / h
- Flight Time: 1 hour and 40 minutes
Another exhibit was the HORNET-X70 quadcopter, which also attracted the interest of the visitors. CyRIC’s HORNET X-70 can be deployed rapidly (in 5 minutes), it is lightweight and easy to operate and maintain. Among others, it can be equipped with a payload release mechanism.
HORNET-X70 technical characteristics:
- Overall Diameter including rotating parts: 1.03 m
- Overall Height: 0.3 m
- Weight without battery: 2 kg
- Battery weight: 1.5 kg
- Max take-off gross weight (MTOGW): 5 kg
- Payload: 1.5 – 2 kg depending on the flight duration
- Max Horizontal Speed: 55 km / h
- Max Ascent Rate: 4 metres / second
- Flight Time: 25 minutes
All CyRIC drones can carry different types of optical sensors such as high-resolution magnification and thermal imaging. In addition, CyRIC offers solutions tailored to the customer’s needs, and is one of the few manufacturers in Europe that can provide such a capacity.
CyRIC also showcased the FIRST RESPONDER multi-purpose micro ground robot. The small Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) was also presented at the DEFEA 2021 exhibition in Athens.
FIRST RESPONDER can be deployed quickly and its design allows it to conduct a variety of missions. It can be deployed from forward ground units and penetrate high risk areas, transmitting vital information to the control centre.
CyRIC’s robot is available in the following variants: High Resolution Camera Robot (PTZ), Cargo Drop, Jammer Module and Dropping Charge.
FIRST RESPONDER technical characteristics:
- Weight: 11 kg
- Speed: 10 km / h
- Vision: 230 degrees
- Endurance: 2 hours
- Range: 500m non-line-of sight (NLOS)
The Cypriot company also introduced InsoFeet, a smart insole that helps soldiers/personnel perform better by providing health vitals in real time, while also providing information on performance and activities.
Insofeet is a breakthrough solution offered by CyRIC, powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to collect and process information. This information provides the soldier actionable insights that could, of course, not be accessed via an ordinary sole. InsoFeet can detect falls, fatigue and injuries and provides analysis /correction of posture and body control in real time. It is charged wirelessly via power bank and has a 14-day endurance. Its frequency reaches up to 200Hz, while the load accuracy has a deviation of less than 0.5 kg.
