A terrorist act on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus was prevented, which was estimated to have aimed at killing citizens of Jewish origin.
According to Phileleftheros, the perpetrators were the intelligence services that appear to be linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
The Israeli press also gave details of the case after the statement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who welcomed the prevention of what he said was an Iranian terrorist attack against Israelis in Cyprus.
The Israeli media confirmed the information that the Cypriot secret services cooperated with Mossad and the US secret services to prevent the strike. The members of the terrorist group entered Cyprus territory through the occupied territories and followed Israelis in Limassol.
The operation that was prevented is said to be connected to other efforts of the specific terrorist network. One case is that of an Azeri, who was arrested two years ago in Cyprus, while two other attempts in Greece and Turkey seem to be connected.
Last March in Greece after an operation by the Greek Police, the Greek police arrested two Pakistanis of Iranian origin, aged 27 and 29, who were planning attacks against Israelis in Athens city center.
