Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, assisted Cyprus in thwarting an Iranian-ordered attack on Israeli and Jewish citizens on the island.

This was announced by the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, saying that the number of such attempts has increased since the start of the war in Gaza.

Israel is troubled by what it sees as Iran’s use of the occupied and Turkish-controlled Occupied Territories both for terrorist purposes and as an operational and transit area, according to the same statement.

Cypriot authorities have arrested two Iranian suspects for an alleged plot to target Israelis in Cyprus, Reuters reported earlier, citing a report by Kathimerini Cyprus.

Those arrested are said to be political refugees who had been in contact with a person with ties to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

They were reportedly in the early stages of obtaining intelligence on potential Israeli targets.
