COVID-19 tests for 1,000 members of the National Guard

Among the 20,000 samples taken by the Ministry of Health throughout Cyprus (excluding the Turkish occupied areas) 1,000 are for members of the National Guard, with the aim of finding asymptomatic patients who are positive for coronavirus COVID-19.
The plan drawn up by the Ministry of Defence and the National Guard General Staff (NGGS) includes officers, non-commissioned officers, professional soldiers and conscripts all over the National Guard units.
Around 100 members of the National Guard are subjected to sampling within the framework indicated by each unit.
At the same time, the National Guard is taking part in monitoring the implementation of the restrictive decrees. Specifically, the operators of the fixed and mobile cameras of the National Guard, under the supervision of the Larnaca Search and Rescue Coordination Center (KSED), supervise the road network throughout Cyprus.
Furthermore, the National Guard has made its Health Department together with personnel and ambulance vehicles available to the Ministry of Health in case of necessity.
