The Hellenic Centre for Defence Innovation (HCDI S.A.) announced that on Friday, 28 February 2025, two calls for expressions of interest were published, concerning the fields of unmanned systems and command, control and intelligence systems.

With this announcement, HCDI fulfills its role as a contracting authority for the implementation of Research and Development programmes concerning the Defence and Security sectors.

At the same time, it plans to issue new calls to the market in the near future. Specifically, HCDI’s first calls for expressions of interest concern:

  1. The development of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV) of two (2) designs and multiple configurations, capable of performing autonomous or semi-autonomous navigation.
  2. The development of a Combat Management System (CMS), with its initial application on a “Fast Attack” type ship, capable of synthesising both the local and network-wide tactical picture of the theater of operations.

The aim is also, in conjunction with the next important steps that will soon follow within the framework of the “Agenda 2030” reform, to equip the Hellenic Armed Forces with the most modern technological means, enabling them to fulfill their mission of safeguarding national sovereignty and sovereign rights.

With only nine months of operation, HCDI has taken significant steps towards further activating the domestic defence innovation ecosystem, said HCDI CEO Pantelis Tzortzakis..
