The US Army has successfully conducted a test launch of its new hypersonic missile system, “Dark Eagle,” after two years of delays.
At the BATTLEFIELD ReDEFiNED Defence and Security Conference, attendees had the opportunity to see ALTUS LSA’s ATLAS 204 and ATLAS 4 unmanned aerial vehicles up close.
The ATLAS 204 quadcopter is already in service with the Hellenic Armed Forces. It is designed to operate under adverse weather and electromagnetic conditions with minimal footprint and manpower requirements. It features a camera with digital zoom x30 and an infrared camera with digital zoom x20, while a payload release mechanism can also be applied.
ATLAS 204 technical characteristics:
- Endurance: 40 minutes
- Maximum take-off weight: 8 kg
- Maximum altitude: 3000 meters

ATLAS 4 carried out the first drone delivery of medicines in Greece, and more specifically in Trikala back in 2021, where it transported medicines for emergency incidents (e.g. adrenaline) and landed in a pharmacy in Leptokarya locality. The system was built under this program to help meet critical societal needs and can be used for a wide range of missions with a 2 kg payload capability.
ATLAS 4 technical characteristics:
- Endurance: 60 minutes
- Maximum take-off weight: 11 kg
- Maximum altitude: 5000 meters
- Maximum speed: 18 meters / second
In a presentation on “Unmanned aerial systems and multi-spatial operations”, Alexandros Ioakeimidis, Sales Manager of ALTUS LSA, also unveiled in Cyprus the ATLAS 8H which operates in a hybrid mode and can carry up to 24 mortar shells, and the C3 intelligence and mission management system M3NTOR.
