The US Army has successfully conducted a test launch of its new hypersonic missile system, “Dark Eagle,” after two years of delays.
New MALE UAVs have been unveiled in the outdoor exhibiting area of EDEX 2023, shedding light on the advancements in the Egyptian UAV Industry.
In particular, the UAVs showcased were:
EJUNE-30 SW
EJUNE 30 SW is a Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), named after the 30 June 2013 revolution. Its aerodynamic configuration was heavily based on that of the Emirati Adcom System Yabhon Flash-20.
The peculiar aerodynamic configuration features a high main wing carrying two engine nacelles, with each engine powering a three-blade propeller.
Technical characteristics:
- Length: 8.9 meters
- Height: 2.6 meters
- Wingspan: 12 meters
- Maximum take-off weight: 1,400 kg
- Payload: 270 kg
- Endurance: 14-16 hours
- Operational altitude: up to 23,000 ft
- Maximum speed: 260 km/h
The system comes in two versions: for armed missions (UCAV) and reconnaissance, fitted with 10 hardpoints for carrying recon/surveillance payload, armament as well as auxiliary fuel tanks. The UAV is also equipped with an indigenously developed electro-optical (EO) system.

6th October
6th October, named in remembrance of the 1973 war, is an indigenously designed and developed (MALE) UAV based on EJUNE 30 UAV, with upgraded aerodynamics, new powerful engines, allowing it to fly for 240 km with an endurance of 30 hrs and a service ceiling of 18,000 ft.
The UAV has 13 hardpoints and the payload varies between recon/electro-optical and infrared pods/systems, Synthetic-aperture radar (SAR), and auxiliary fuel tanks. Additionally, the system’s range is equal to 240 km, with a line-of-sight data link as well as a SATCOM link allowing a much greater range considering the endurance.
Ahmous
Ahmous is a new, indigenously developed Egyptian (MALE) UAV with a maximum attitude of 22,000 ft, an endurance of up to 30 hrs, a maximum speed of 250 km/h, and an operational range that exceeds 100 km based solely on a line-of-sight data link.
The said Ahmous multi-role UAV has 7 hardpoints and 17.23 meters-long wingspan and is introduced for both armed missions and reconnaissance, as it can be loaded with a variety of EO/IR and SAR systems.
It is worth noting that the range of those UAVs can be increased by expanding the Line-of-sight (LoS) data link through the deployment of more ground control stations (GCS) or installing a SATCOM link which gives a greater range.
Taba series target drone
Taba series target drones is a series of aerial target systems based on Adcom projects, fitted with Turbojet engines in use for training air defence crew.
