Japan intends to review its strategic doctrine, according to statements by the country’s Prime Minister.
Japan will strengthen its defence capabilities and consider striking hostile bases, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said today, as Tokyo faced growing claims from China and North Korea which remains unpredictable.
To enhance the archipelago’s capabilities, the three key texts that define them will be revised over the next year: the national security strategy, the national defence program guidelines and the interim defence program of the country.
Developments in the Indo-Pacific region urge Japan to change its military capabilities which have – after the Second World War – remained limited and dependent on the United States.
