Part of the Russian Caspian fleet crossed the Crimean bridge across the Kerch Strait and entered the Black Sea, while earlier it was reported that Russia relocated its fighter jets Su-25SMZ in the Crimea.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.
The announcement states that among 15 warships of the Caspian fleet there are 3 rocket launchers, 8 landing vessels and general support ships.
“According to the inspection plan, the crews of the Caspian fleet vessels, in cooperation with the Black Sea Fleet, will take part in test naval exercises,” the Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement.
As previously reported by Ukrainian News, the Russian Federation has in the past closed part of the Black Sea to the passage of foreign ships.
In recent days, more than 70 fighter jets and attack helicopters have taken part in exercises over the Black Sea, the press service of the Russian Southern Military District said.
The aircraft had to launch rockets and engage surface targets. The ministry said the Su-27SM, Su-30SM, Su-25SM3 fighters and the Su-24M and Su-34 bombers took part in the exercises.
In addition, pilots of the Air Force, Air Defence and Black Sea Fleet of the 4th Army accompanied ship formations and provided air safety in the Black Sea.

During the exercise, the Su-25SM3s from Stavropol were transferred to the Crimean airports and the Su-25SM3 squadron, based on the peninsula, was moved to the training area Ashuluk in the Astrakhan region.
At the same time, according to the British Sunday Times, British warships will sail for the Black Sea in May.
The deployment of British ships in the region is aimed at highlighting the solidarity of NATO forces towards Ukraine.
A Type 45 destroyer armed with anti-aircraft missiles and a Type 23 anti-submarine warfare frigate will be deployed by the British Royal Navy in the Mediterranean and will be headed across the Bosphorus to the Black Sea, according to the report.
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) F-35B Lightning aircraft and Merlin anti-submarine warplanes will be on alert at the HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier to support British warships in the Black Sea.

A ministry spokesman told the Sunday Times that the UK government was working closely with Ukraine to monitor the situation.
“The United Kingdom and our international allies strongly support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the paper said.
