Hellenic Vehicle Industry (ELVO) 2020 | Growth lever for the Greek economy – Reconstruction of the defence industry
“After six years of setbacks and ineffective processes, ELVO can now be a growth lever for the Greek economy and especially for Northern Greece, supporting the local community, by announcing many job vacancies.”
This was commented by the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras, after the signing of the agreement on the right of the State to participate with a percentage of up to 21% in the share capital of the new company “ELVO 2020”.
In particular, the Minister stated the following:
“The agreement was signed today between the Hellenic Republic, represented by the Minister of Finance, and the bidder, regarding the right of the Hellenic Republic to participate with a percentage of up to 21% in the share capital of the new company “ELVO 2020”. The specific term of the tender was provided due to the field of activity of ELVO. A company with a long history, which has been in special liquidation from 2014 until today.
It is recalled that two public tenders were ineffectively conducted; one in April 2017 and one in August 2018, as well as one tender which was canceled in February 2019.
In March 2020, the Liquidator again proceeded with a public invitation to tender with free negotiation. Through this process, the said bidder emerged.
After six years of setbacks and ineffective procedures, ELVO can now be a lever of growth for the Greek economy and especially for Northern Greece, supporting the local community, by announcing many job vacancies.
The Greek government continues to work methodically, with determination and efficiency, for the reconstruction of the defence industry on a sound basis.”
