The newly established subsidiary THEON SAUDI ARABIA has been licensed to manufacture defence equipment and provide defence services by GAMI (General Military Industry Authority).
THEON SENSORS established, a few months ago, a new subsidiary, THEON SAUDI ARABIA, based in the capital Riyadh, together with the company RAKAA Defense & Security. The purpose of the new investment is the promotion, production and development of existing and new night vision products and thermal imaging systems, with emphasis on applications in larger electro-optical and thermal systems for platforms and vehicles.
RAKAA Defense & Security was founded in 1982 in Saudi Arabia and is an international defence equipment company. The company has become one of the largest suppliers of defence equipment to the Security and Defence Corps of Saudi Arabia. It is one of the business companies of the RAKAA HOLDING Group, which in cooperation with international consortia, has extensive experience in the field of real estate development, construction infrastructure, energy and water.

THEON SAUDI ARABIA will operate in Saudi Arabia with its own staff, while additional specialized scientific staff will join the company’s personnel in the coming months, forming the Research & Development Department. The new plant, which is under construction, will be based in Riyadh in the Al Harz Industrial Zone, in collaboration with MODON, the Saudi Arabian City of Industrial Cities and Technology Zones Authority.
“We are proud to be working with ΤΗΕΟΝ SENSORS, the world leader in night vision devices, thus expanding our product portfolio. Our cooperation is completely in line with the strong ties the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has developed with Greece, but also with the extended “Vision 2030” plan for the restructuring of our economy, which includes investing in Research and Development, creating strong local productive potential and opening up the economy to more sectors,” said Salman Fahd Hamadal Malek, CEO of RAKAA Defense & Security Co. and President of THEON SAUDI ARABIA.
“The licensing of THEON SAUDI ARABIA by GAMI for the production of defence equipment took place in record time, which reflects the added value we bring to the country, but also the trust and appreciation shown to us by the Saudi authorities,” said Mr. Philippe Mennicken, Business Development Director of THEON SENSORS and CEO of THEON SAUDI ARABIA.
“Our new company THEON SAUDI ARABIA and its relationship with RAKAA will be the vehicle of activity of the other companies of the EFAGROUP, such as SCYTALYS, EFA VENTURES and UCANDRONE.” Saudi Arabia will design and manufacture advanced defence products in addition to electro-optical and thermal, such as ‘smart’ unmanned aerial vehicles for oil network surveillance operations,” said. K. Thomas Dakos, President and CTO of THEON SENSORS.
