Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan today challenged the viability of a UN-sponsored ceasefire in Libya.
“Today’s ceasefire agreement was not reached at the highest level, but at the lowest level,” Erdogan told reporters in Istanbul. “To me, (this agreement) seems to lack credibility.”
Earlier, the UN mission in Libya announced via Facebook that: “The warring parties in Libya have signed an agreement for a ‘permanent ceasefire in all parts of Libya’.”
The agreement was signed after five days of talks in Geneva under the auspices of the UN.
“The Libyan parties have reached an agreement on a permanent ceasefire throughout Libya. This is a significant turning point for peace and stability in Libya,” said the UN mission in Libya.
