The Ukrainian Armed Forces, deployed in eastern Ukraine, will be equipped with US Javelin anti-tank missiles (ATGM) and Bayraktar TB2 UCAV Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles.
This was announced by the Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAF), General Ruslan Khomchak, in a post on social media.
According to Khomchak, the tactics of Javelin usage are being worked out by soldiers of a specific brigade preparing to enter the Joint Forces Operations.
Ukrainian army brigades in eastern Ukraine will be able to receive these systems more easily in the future.
“In addition, in preparing this brigade for the next rotation, we will also work on the use of Bayraktar drones to carry out strikes on enemy targets,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces Chief added.
According to General Khomchak, Ukrainian troops have learned how to defend themselves, and now they need to improve their attack.

“Now, we are devoting much more attention to preparing troops for offensive operations in urban areas. For six years we have learned how to defend ourselves well. And the army must be trained and attack day and night, in any weather conditions. I set this task a year ago. After all, the army should be fully prepared for different developments,” Khomchak added.
In the spring of 2018, Ukraine received 37 Javelin launchers and 210 missiles from the United States. During Volodymyr Zelensky’s presidency, Kiev has resumed talks with Washington on new Javelin deliveries. Contracts were signed for the second batch of missiles in December 2019, some of which arrived in Ukraine in June 2020.
