The fire that broke out shortly after 4:30 in the afternoon in the area of Glafyres Magnesia and burned areas of low vegetation and bushes at the Shooting Range of the Hellenic Army and 32nd Marine Brigade, north of Volos, is under control.

The fire was burning two sites and greatly expanded due to the very high temperatures and winds. It entered the Shooting Range where explosions were heard, but the fire service from Volos, infantry units, Army forces, and dozens of water tankers from the Region of Thessaly and the Municipality of Volos immediately rushed to the scene, while a firefighting helicopter and three tractor aircraft fought to extinguish the fire that was heading towards the village of Glafyres.

Speaking to APA MPA, the deputy governor of Magnesia, Dorothea Kolyndrini, who was present at the site where the fire was raging, said that the fire was very large and that is why the alarm was sounded and the mobilization took place immediately, so that they could prevent its further expansion and, above all, to prevent it from reaching the road and residential areas.

At the request of the Regional Governor of Thessaly, Kostas Agorastos, the three firefighting planes came immediately, and with continuous water drops at 8:30 in the evening, the last drops from the air took place which brought the fire under control. Now its complete extinguishment has been undertaken by the ground forces and the Army.
