The US Pentagon has announced that defence companies from Turkey will produce 155 mm ammunition at facilities in the United States in cooperation with US companies.

According to Yeni Safak, in response to a question from a Turkish Anadolu journalist, the Pentagon said that three new facilities are already being built in Texas, USA, and the production of the munitions is expected to start in 2025.

Specifically, the US Army is building three production lines for metal parts for 155 mm rounds in Texas, the Pentagon spokesman, Jeff Jurgensen, said.

He added that the contract for construction, installation, and further production was awarded to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, with subcontractors from the Turkish industry, but the companies have not been named.

The US official said that the aim is to increase the production of critical munitions for the US military to replenish its stockpiles after sending military aid to Ukraine.

According to him, 30.000 missile parts will be produced every month.
