US President, Joe Biden, visited the US-Mexico border for the first time over the weekend.
Two years after taking office, Biden is still looking for solutions to the immigration issue which, according to the Republicans, has reached the proportions of a national crisis.
His first stop was the border town of El Paso in Texas. Having the Minister of Immigration, Alejandro Mayorkas, and a group of American officials by his side, they were informed about the situation in the city by the police who showed them how the checks are carried out on vehicles suspected of trafficking drugs, weapons, and black money.
In addition to the issue of illegal immigration, Washington is also focusing on the issue of drugs, as millions of American citizens use fentanyl, a compound substance produced by Mexican cartels that is 50 times stronger than heroin.
In the next few hours, a tripartite Summit is expected to take place in Mexico City between Joe Biden, his Mexican counterpart, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, and Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.
