An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) hit the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol on Sunday morning, injuring five people, said Mikhail Razvozayev, the city governor located on the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia.

“This morning, Ukrainian nationalists decided to destroy us on Russian Fleet Day,” which is celebrated in Russia, Razvozayev wrote on Telegram.

He added that a UAV approached the forecourt of the Fleet headquarters and injured five personnel.

All events for Russian Fleet Day have been “canceled for security reasons”, Razvozayev announced, asking the residents of Sevastopol not to leave their homes “if possible”.

Events are planned to mark the occasion across Russia, including a naval parade in St. Petersburg (northwest), which the President, Vladimir Putin, is expected to attend.

It is the first time that Russian authorities have spoken of such a blow since the beginning of the attack on Ukraine on February 24, according to CNN Greece.
