German defence company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG) is currently developing an armored vehicle repair center in Ukraine, German MP Markus Faber has announced.
In western Ukraine, FFG is developing a repair center for armored vehicles such as the Leopard 1, which it has supplied to the Ukrainian military, the German politician said.
Faber noted that the development of repair facilities at home will significantly increase efficiency and reduce the time required to repair equipment, as expensive and time-consuming transportation abroad will no longer be necessary and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to train their own engineers.
FFG will become the second German defence company after Rheinmetall to expand its facilities in Ukraine.

In October 2023, Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries, told Morning Defense that FFG would partner with a private Ukrainian defence industrial company. According to open sources, the joint venture FFG Industries Ukraine was signed on October 12, 2023. Together, the two companies will cover the entire range of German weapons that arrive and can be repaired in Ukraine.
FFG specializes in the repair of military equipment and the development of specialized vehicles. Specifically, this refers to Leopard 1A5 tanks, WiSENT 1 MC engineer vehicles, and Pionierpanzer 2A1 Dachs as well as IRIS-T SLS air defence systems.
According to an FFG official, the company is about to offer nearly 700 vehicles to the Ukrainian military, including bridge-laying, recovery, and engineer vehicles.
