Time for volunteerism| Information for signing up

The activation of the volunteer management protocol in emergency situations has been announced by Giannis Giannakis, Commissioner for Volunteerism and Non-Governmental Organizations.
The announcement states that the protocol was approved by the Council of Ministers in 2018 following the recommendation of the Commissioner for Volunteerism and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
The protocol is designed to provide insurance coverage to volunteers and more effective coordination of voluntary actions, in close cooperation with the relevant state agencies.
In order to engage volunteers in support actions to the relevant State agencies, in the event of a COVID-19 emergency, citizens aged 18 and over should fill out the form on the website of the Commissioner (the form can be found here).
The form can be sent electronically to: [email protected], [email protected] or via fax at 22400181.
By filling out the form, volunteers will be provided with insurance coverage and will benefit from initiatives planned according to the real needs, with the utmost concern for the safety of the volunteers and our fellow citizens, taking the necessary measures to protect them.
The Commissioner clarifies that for any voluntary initiatives undertaken, insurance as well as proper volunteer information and treatment protocols should be provided so as to prevent the transmission of the virus.
Finally, he says there is a need for specialized management of volunteers and their actions in pandemic situations.
