The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, received yesterday at the Presidential Palace, the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Dimokritos Zervakis, in the presence of the Minister of Defence, Mr. Michalis Georgallas.
The meeting was held in light of the extension of the National Guard Chief’s term until the end of June 2023. During the meeting, President Christodoulidis said that the steps taken by the National Guard in the last few years are very important.
He also expressed the belief that in the next period of his term the Chief of the National Guard will have an excellent cooperation with the new Minister of Defence, noting that the goal is common.
According to the relevant announcement, during the meeting, the Minister of Defence signed the relevant extension.
The extension of Lieutenant General Zervakis’s term is aimed at the continuation of the smooth operation of the National Guard and the smooth completion of the procedures until the appointment of a new Chief of the National Guard.
During the meeting, Lt. Gen. Zervakis thanked the President of the Republic for reaffirming both himself and the State’s trust in him.
He also expressed thanks to the former and current Minister of Defence, the Deputy Chief and the officers of the National Guard as well as the military and civilian personnel for the impeccable and constructive cooperation they had.
