On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the “Defence Cooperation Program between Greece – Israel” for 2023 was signed in Tel Aviv by the Director of the Directorate of International Relations of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), Brigadier Nikolaos Holevas, and the Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Israeli Army General Staff, Colonel Gil Dolov.
The said Program includes a total of 58 activities: 25 exercises, 15 trainings, and 18 other actions that will take place in both countries, and concern, among others:
- Participation in joint exercises and in those of the individual Branches of the Armed Forces;
- Joint training of Special Forces – Special Operations Forces;
- Participation of trainees in national-joint and multinational schools as well as in seminars;
- Staff meetings and conversations on matters of mutual interest;
- Joint training in Crisis Management, Electronic Warfare, and Search and Rescue subjects.
According to the relevant announcement of the HNDGS, the signing of this Program confirms the already close military cooperation between Greece and Israel and further deepens the strong ties of their Armed Forces, contributing to strengthening the role played by the 2 countries in ensuring stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean region and beyond.
