With a terse celebration ceremony the political and state leadership of Greece honored the anniversary of the 25th of March 1821.

Keeping strict measures of protection because of coronavirus COVID-19, only the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the president of Parliament, the party leaders and the Chief of Army’s General Staff Constantinos Floros attended the ceremony in Syntagma square.

The ceremony lasted less than five minutes, with Madame President laying a wreath at the Unknown Soldier’s memorial and simply wishing for the Independence Day to those in attendance.

During the ceremony, four Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets, and a total of  6 Army Aviation and Naval Aviation helicopters flew over Athens.
